Mark Twain was a good writer.
There’s a saying attributed to him:
“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.“
What do you think?
At first glance it sounds right doesn’t it?
And some days it’s definitely the right approach – stop procrastinating and get that bloody task out of the way.
But not every day.
And for one simple reason: the most unpleasant task might not be the most important task. And the most important task might not be unpleasant.
When you finish work today, and you review your day, what is the most important item you need to have taken care of? Is it an unpleasant task?
Some days it will be. Some days it won’t be.
And that’s ok!
Forget the frog. Remember the (most) important. Focus on importance. Yeah – some days it’ll be a frog. But not every day!
